#68 Jason A. Adams
From the Brian Squirrels of Jason A. Adams’ Imagination:
What you’ll see in my story collection is all the short stories and books I have published as of February 15, 2021. There really is no rhyme or reason to the genres and topics I write in, I simply write the story that comes to mind.
That being said, you’ll find many examples of Appalachian tall tales, both speculative and not. My goal is to represent the amazingly unique characters of the Virginia coalfields I call home, while avoiding the usual stereotypes. Not everyone in these stories is a hero or well-educated or lacking in social challenges, but they are all honest to the people and culture I’ve known all my life.
Another theme in my writing tends to be found families. I’m a firm believer that one of the joys of adulthood is being able to assemble your own family, which may or may not include genetic relatives. Find the people who help you live your best life and grow as a person.
Other stories are set in the places I’ve called home over the years. Atlanta, Las Vegas, Japan. Some I leave to you to decide where the action takes place, since a story really is about the character or characters. Of course, the right setting can be a character itself.
Anyway, in my writing you’ll (hopefully) find humor, tension, romance, mystery. And most of all, I truly hope you find entertainment, and that you laugh, shake your head, wince, cry, or gasp in all the appropriate places.
