I was lucky enough to win a contest which allowed me to send my payload on this one-way trip. Author Susan Kaye Quinn was kind enough to run a contest with her “Writers on the Moon” project and I won a slot! In this payload with me are some awesome authors, some of which I have read and reviewed. Those authors are sending ebooks of their works in this payload.
While I am not an author of fictional works, I am in distinguished company. Enclosed in this payload are all the reviews I’ve written for ten of these passengers. There are 89 reviews total. They’re listed here, according to their manifest number:
#1 – Susan Kaye Quinn
#5 – Rysa Walker
#6 – John Gregory Hancock
#9 – Samuel Peralta
#11 – Patrice Fitzgerald
#20 – Jon Frater
#26 – Patricia Gilliam
#49 – D.K. Cassidy
#58 – Philip Harris (and one review for Michael Patrick Hicks, a stowaway in Philip’s payload)
I am considered a “stowaway” about this generation ship. So, while I’m not an author, I am a book reviewer. So, I think it’s perfectly fitting that I send my book reviews of these authors to the Moon. This way, when people discover all the ebooks sent in this lunar time capsule, they will also find book reviews demonstrating how much I enjoyed their stories. Then, I’m sure they will want to read them and find out for themselves what excellent reads they all are.
While I do wonder who will discover this payload someday, I know that they will find some excellent stories to enjoy. And hopefully, my book reviews will tell them why all the stories they discover will be a pleasure to experience.

I also included two documents:
- Why Being Involved in this Project is Beyond Amazing: This explains why I became a book reviewer and my love of reading. This also explains how much I enjoy learning about space exploration in the current day and why I enjoy reading science fiction.
- The Indie Athenaeum – How I Became a Book Reviewer. This explains how I became a book reviewer and the origin of my own book blog.
On the personal side, I included several letters. This includes biographies and messages for the future. These are intended to be read by whomever finds this lunar time capsule. This also includes messages to future members of my family tree.
These biographies and letters are written by myself, my wife, my fifteen-year-old son, my thirteen-year-old daughter, and my father.
I included some photos in here as well. This includes my whole family doing activities together over the past few years. Going on vacation, celebrating milestones, the kids doing their extracurricular activities and doing fun stuff. This also includes photos of my sister and her young children, as well as of my maternal grandparents and a throwback photo to a family portrait taken in January 1992.

The idea of legacy looms large over this project. What do I want the future to know about my book reviews, myself, and my family? What do I want to share with whomever reads what I placed in this lunar time capsule? It’s a very large concept to grasp and a very fun one!
But it also captures the can-do spirit of space exploration and the mind-blowing concept of talking with someone you’ll never meet. A message in a bottle, sent to the Moon for storage until someday, someone will examine the contents of Astrobotic’s Peregrine Lunar Lander.
One final thing: this is SO COOL! My words and pictures will be archived on the MOON!
